Biography

Anna Pichelstorfer works as a university assistant (pre-doc) at the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna. She studied sociology at the University of Vienna and graduated 2011 with a master’s thesis on patient groups. She specialized in science and technology studies and sociology of health and medicine.
From 2011 to 2013 Anna was Scholar in the postgraduate program “Sociology of Social Practices” at the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna. Before that, she worked as assistant researcher in different research projects at the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna and as teaching assistant at the University of Vienna.

Current Research Interests

Anna is interested in science-society relations with a focus on public debates on and governance of biomedical technologies. Her dissertation researches the public controversy on assisted reproductive technologies in Austria to investigate bioethics expertise as social practice, in which its knowledge(s), legitimacy and actors are constituted.
