Susanne Öchsner works as University Assistant (pre-doc) at the Department of Science and Technology Studies. She studied Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna with a specific focus on Gender Studies. She graduated with a thesis on the relevance of intersectional categories of difference for women’s access to women’s shelters. She has previously been working at the Institute for Design and Technology Assessment at the Vienna University of Technology – since 2011 as a tutor for user research methods and in 2012/13 as a project assistant.

Current Research Interests

Susanne’s research interests are located at the intersection of the production of technology and society. In her PhD-thesis she investigates how - in the case of Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) technologies - the collective good for aging societies is being negotiated in local research and development practices. Furthermore, she is currently interested in the organization of research and development in transnational and transdisciplinary research projects.
