On the Tacit Governance of Research by Uncertainty

Untertitel:How Early Stage Researchers Contribute to the Governance of Life Science Research
Autoren:Sigl, Lisa
Abstrakt:The experience of uncertainties in exploring the unknown—and dealingwith them—is a key characteristic of what it means to be a life scienceresearcher, but we have only started to understand how this characteristicshapes cultures of knowledge production, particularly in times whenother—more social—uncertainties enter the field. Although the labstudies tradition has explored the workings of epistemic uncertainties, therange of potent uncertainty experiences in research cultures has beenbroadened within the neoliberal reorganization of academic institutions.
