Biography

Léa is a sowi:docs fellow 2025 pursuing a PhD in the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna. Her research explores how individuals mediate reproductive decision-making and gendered understandings of responsibility through their use of fertility tracking apps and related wearable technologies.

While most existing literature focuses on the efficacy of fertility tracking apps, little attention has been given to the role of materiality and embodiment in the use of this technology. Drawing on feminist technoscience and feminist new materialism, this research seeks to foreground the sociotechnical and material-discursive dimensions of digital reproductive health tools. Previously, Léa worked in research, project management and network coordination at the European network Women Against Violence Europe (WAVE) in Vienna. She also holds a BSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in Sociology and MPhil from the Reproductive Sociology Research Group at the University of Cambridge.

Léa has previous experience in feminist organising and non-profit advocacy, including at Frauenkreise and The Berghof Foundation in Berlin.
