Biography

Since March 2022, Berit Wolff is a research assistant in the project team involved in BBMRI.at at the STS department of the University of Vienna. The project investigates how citizens and patients engage with biobanks in the Austrian context. In focus are questions concerning the relationship between biological data and citizenships as well as valuation practices regarding biobanking infrastructures.

In her Bachelor's degree, Berit studied Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrück. For her BSc thesis, which was situated in the field of neuro- and psycholinguistics, she examined how negative polarity items lead to faster processing of a following negation due to expectancy effects.

Berit joined the STS Master's programme in October 2020. Her main interest is how sociotechnical artefacts mediate between (non-)humans and the world around us, particularly the role of digital infrastructures and datafication in the co-production of values, beliefs and identities.
