Environment and Space

The most recent domain in our portfolio is environment and space, in their broadest senses.  On the one hand we examine the environmental life sciences, studying climate, crop and soil sciences, and important issues such as (micro)plastic pollution. Environment also means engaging with disasters, such as the post-Fukushima period.  On the other hand, space is an emerging topic. Space and the making of space are here understood in at least two ways. Concretely we are currently focusing on specific aspects of smart cities as a space of sociotechnical reconfiguration, on the making of space through digital bordering as well as on outer space and the institutions researching it (e.g. European Space Agency).
